Hello everyone. I am new to Iboats, and I have never owned a boat. I have been on the water few times, so thanks for your patience! I just purchased a 1988 bayliner capri. It has a 85 h.p. U.S. Marine engine on it. It is a manual lift outboard engine. My question is, has anyone, or can I put an electric transome lift on this boat? I appretiate any help. Thanks!

The answer is Yes, you can mount electric tilt and trim to your motor. Used units can be found on eBay but they are pricey. I went with an aftermarket electric tilt and trim by CMC. It is expensive new,but worth every penny in my opinion. Finding a unit and mounting it are the easy parts, the wiring can be a bit of a pain if your boat did not come with the option.

Thanks jiggz I appreciate the link. Sooo what would I do if money was a concern? I got the boat for $500. Everything is good with it, its just old. I don't know if I wanna spend too much on it!

Well, if that is the case the price of a used full system (T&T) will set you back about $300~$400 and then the parts will be very hard to find because they are mostly not made anymore. With a new CMC system, you always have the option of taking if off if you decided to get rid of the old boat and Force motor and still use it for your new boat or at least re-sell it at a decent price.
