I have a Monterey 250Cr that I trailer daily when I boat. I have Purchased 4 winches from 2 different manufacturers and every one I received had defects. When talking with the manager of the retailer I was told that he has never seen one work and the quality is China quality.

Does anyone have or use a Ramsey or a Warn winch? I am wanting one that is rated for 4500 lbs so I can do single line pulls. I am figuring if they do ok in the off road enviorment then it should be able to handle the exposer.

Please.. any feed back is appreciated

personnaly i would not have an electric winch, it would spend the money or a 2 or 3 speed, manual winch. and back in deeper.

Backing in further is not always an option. Our ramp doesn't have much of a grade. At low tide you can forget it.
He's got a 25' boat. I can sympathize. Mine is only 19' and I get a workout.
Wish I had an electric winch - one day.
Let us know what you come up with.
I can tell you to stay away from Chinese. I have heard bad things from a couple people about Harbor Freight's electric winches - not lasting long.
