Happy Holidays. Have my fishfinder and fish aerator pump connected to my deep cell trolling motor battery. When I turn on the aerator the finder dims out and can't read it, Turn off the aerator and the finder works . Any ideas? Thanks

Re: electrical question

Sure -- the battery is not fully charged or it is not capable of holding a charge and therefore a more appropriate term is "it's toast". Turn both items on and measure the voltage (or use the voltage function on the locator). Bet it drops like a rock from 12 volts when the aerator is turned on.

Re: electrical question

Thanks Silvertip. You know I opened the battery covers and one cell on each side had a coffee looking substance floating on the top, it that normal? Thanks

Re: electrical question

Nope! Did you make the checks I suggested? Or try a different (known good battery).
