If you look in the background there appears to be several other paintings done by those critters. The video keeps zooming in and out so it shows it is the elephant doing the painting. I am amazed.

I knew elephants often did paintings, but I had no idea they were so coherent in their work. That is really cool. Wonder how much they sell for...

Whats the over under on when this thing snaps and mauls his trainer.

I'm saying 14 months.

I know this response is a little twisted, but seriously; how many whacks to the knees did this thing take before he learned to do this.

I take it your not an animal trainer based on your perception of animal and human behavior along with your comment.

On another note, I think my self portrait is way better than that big show off's! :0

That is amazing.

I wonder if the elephant was trained to paint that picture, or if it paints different pictures depending on how it feels.

In other words, it is a learned trick, or a form of self expression?

Thanks for the scopes link QC. I'm glad people on this forum enjoyed the video as much as I did. I was totally amazed that an elephant could paint an object that looks like something. I have seen other videos where the elephant just painted some colors onto a canvas, but it didn't look like anything. There is a "painting elephant" at the Buffalo, NY zoo, but it just splashes colors, nothing like this.
