I have had a few of them, they are great motors, and very desirable! Those would look great together as twins! The electric start, and fuel pump, are desirable options. I had a couple 25s, and the matching 12s, but foolishly sold them last year. They are Canadian made, and are basically the same motor as many of the other 25hp Gales.

The seized one offer 50. The starter system alone is worth more than that. If you get them both for 200 or under you will be golden! Parts are all easily found still, so that is good.

Basically, they are the 1955 Evinrude & Johnson 25hp motors with different hoods, and a couple of other updates. Almost all parts are interchangeable with J/E and even carry the same part numbers

Hey nwcove, don't you already have one of those rare Elto versions of the Johnson Ship Master remote control already? Neat stuff!

I am quite certain they are 1957's without looking them up.

From a 57 Gale motors service manual 22DE14 is a 57 and the weight is 129.Without the tank.
I had a 1950s Johnson 25,and a 56 30 Javelin no starter. plus a Wizard(merc) 25 4 cylinder in the basement
If I recall my daughter carried prop end and I carried the powerhed end.I'm sure we paused part way down.
I was a lot younger back then.
