Hello,

I was hoping that you guys could help me troubleshoot the problem.
It seems that my engine bogs down at WOT when attempting to get on plane for the first ride of the day. The engine does not stall, but drastically drops the RMP for about 2 seconds and then resumes as if nothing has happened.
This only seems to occur one time, the first attempt of the day to get on plane.
I warm the engine for about 5 mins prior to boating. Gas purchased at a reputable marina. Water/fuel separator in place.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

my guess is that there is some crud in the fuel bowl of the carburetor and your not getting a good shot from the accelerator pump

dump the contents of the fuel/water filter into a clear bag and look at the contents. if other than 100% pure fuel, you may have water in your tank. then dispose of the filter in the bag and get a new filter

I would check the choke plate, it might not be opening all the way until after the first full power

Thanks for all the advice. I will check all of the above. Does replacing the accelerator pump involve rebuilding the carb? And is there a way to (safely) lubricate the choke place?
