Engine break in

I just bought a boat with a 1968 50hp merc with zero hours on it since its last rebuild. What shoudl i do as far as breaking in the motor?<br /><br /><br /> F-man

I'm not positive what Mercury recommends, but this is what I was told...and it seems to make sense:<br /><br />Double oil mix for the first 10 gallons of fuel. <br /> <br />No full throttle starts <br /><br />No full throttle for the first 5 gallons. <br /> <br />Vary the throttle settings for 10 gallons. <br /><br />I'm sure other people can add what I may have forgotten.
