does anybody know what other engine sizes i can put on a johnson 2000 35 hp lower unit other than a 35 hp, how about a 50-60 hp, and are there any modifications needed

Maybe a stupid question but why do you want to do this ??

the 35 blew up and we are thinking about a bigger engine/powerhead

Then I would sell the current lower unit if it is in good shape and put the money towards a complete replacement motor.

I concur. Part it out. Or buy the same engine and keep it for parts.
