Engine dumping fuel

I have a 1998 volvo penta 5.7 GSI. When you turn key on, without starting engine, very large amounts of fuel is pumped into engine. It will continue to pump until the key is turned off. All the relays, solenoids and diodes have been tested and or replaced. The oil pressure sensor was also replaced. The only thing else we can think of is replacing the ECM. Is there a way to test the ECM? Does anyone have any other suggestions on other possible causes.

GSI, thing TBI

While the pump should not stay ON with the key ON, and this could be the ECM or a short on the ground side of the relay

Even with the pump staying ON, the injectors should not be spraying fuel. This could be the ECM or bad injectors

How long have you had the boat and is this a new problem?
What is the motor serial number?

Hi. This has got to be a fuel pump or sensor issue. Even if the injector or fuel delivery system was open ended…it shouldn’t stay running. You’d think anyway.

You either have a stuck injector or the ecm is commanding the injector to be on all the time. I would disconnect the injector(s) and try again. If it still does it, it is a bad injector. If not then it is the ecm.

The pump continuing to run may be another problem (which may actually also point to ECM) - but does not matter for the flooding issue.
