i understand what dons is saying but it kinda harsh tho. any way as dons would say just get the service manual and start reading, and understan youe engine. i was a novice like you and thanks to this forum i can help myself. BUT PLEASE GET THE SERVICE MANUAL FOR YOUE ENGINE. that will help you know what is what,. and dont be afraid to ask dons any thing. he might come off kinda rude but to me he always right. good luck.

If your timming was off and had to be adjusted you might seriously consider getting a dwell meter and checking the point dwell. Typically ignition timming does not need to be reset unless someone has messed with it. On an ignition system with points, timming will vary because the point dwell changes. Dwell changes occure because the little rubbing block on the point set wears down which causes the points to stay closed longer (dwell change). Always set point dwell before setting timming.

Marine fule tanks create water due to condensation. Whatever you do don't neglect the fuel filter.
