Hi Guys:
If we're taking bets, I'll put my money on the oil pickup being loose and or disconnected from the bracket and on each turn of the cam it bangs on the oil pan.
Of course I could also be completely wrong!

Holy smokes kilowatts! I just watched the video in you signature, totally awesome! Six years at the bottom of the drink to that beauty, wow! Way to go!



OK, back on track...

Any other bets on whats pounding on that oil pan? It may take me a few days here to get it out and on an engine stand to know for sure.

I think kilowatt may have nailed it.

Compression numbers on the one bank aren't great; likely had some water ingestion (rust) at one time. Or improper storage led to a bit of rust in there..

Got it figured! Oil pan smashed in (details on my rebuild thread there).

Looks like cheap and easy which is pretty rare, eh!

How does an oil pan get smashed in on a boat????

Now you have to 'hope' you didn't knock the rod bearing out pounding on the bottom of the oil pan.

Speculate that ice build up did it. I didn't pound on it.:D

I didn't mean that you were doing the pounding. The rod was doing the pounding when it was running.
