I have a 1975 Chrysler model 102HC.
I just replaced the spindel and got it running and it has a mis. I just replaced the plugs and no difference. At idel about every 3 sec there is a big mis and if I rev it up the mis is still there. I had the carb rebuilt last year to fix this problem with no luck. I had this engine about 4-5 years and this mis has always been there. Any suggestions what i can check.

Re: Engine Mis

May not slove your problem, but if you haven't already, replace the fuel pump diaphragm and the three check valves. Easy job, needed maintenance, and not too expensive. Good luck...

Re: Engine Mis

The fuel pump was replaced when the Carb was rebuilt. Not sure where the check valves are but I'll look for them using the engine model number. I may make a video and see if I can post it using photobucket.
Thank you for your help.

Re: Engine Mis

If your distributor has points I would HIGHLY recommend a light sanding on them and setting the proper gap.. Thats just from experience the hard way..

It has a MAGNETO so I assume there is no points, but I'm not sure. I looked at the parts and did not see any points.

Re: Engine Mis

Being that the engine doesn't have a complete random mis. I'm guessing every 3-4 revoloutions.

see if you can borrow or rent a timing light.
Clip it to the plug wire and see which cylinder is missing. My 1st guess would be a dirty point. Clean and regap.

Re: Engine Mis

I have a timing light, I can do that. I assume I just take the top nut off and use a hammer to tap off the flywheel. Thanks for the help

Re: Engine Mis

If by use a hammer you mean a crowbar under the flywheel and hit the end of the crankshaft with the loose nut on it yes ....

Re: Engine Mis

yes that is what I meant, but will do the timing light check first. Would do it now but I think I would loose some neighbor.
Thanks

Re: Engine Mis

OK Checked the points and they were at .022 should be .020, I set them to .020 and cleaned them and ran the timing light and that was not the problem as it still missed so this is what I did,
At above idol just a bit I put the choke at about 60% and it ran pretty smooth. I had the carb rebuilt last year for this same problem and it did not fix it. Now at a loss.
