As far as the gas tank goes...yes that can be done
A few things to remember....Safety first.....gas fumes mean explosion! Purge the inside with argon or water before cutting!
Not sure but your gas tank for a boat may have to be documented on the repair... like certification for maine use and certification of the repair ect.
I would absolutely make sure that a certified welder is performing this task?again fumes = explosion!
I would think you would have a hard time finding the right tank with the right dimensions that you are looking for.....So having a custom one made is another option.
Or if you find one close...reconfigure your mounting hole in the deck.
