Good for you! I've been waiting to hear how it went. I'll be putting my powerhead back in the motor in the next few weeks and hope to have similar reports as yours. Are you going through the "break in" routine with it? (double oil and low revs for a tank of gas).

Harker,
Yup, after all this work I will take it easy for a while with it. Don't wanna risk anything, this engine should be set up for another 20 years now and then I will rebuild it again ;)

CATransplant (what kinda name is that?)
Thanks for cheering for me. If a foreigner with a fishing rod turns up on your doorstep don't be surprised. And if you turn up on mine we shall go fishing together with my Evinrude.

Final update,

The engine is now on the boat and runs like the day it was new, I'm astonished how well it idles. I had one more problem with it that turned out to be the "woodruff key" that holds the flywheel in place. Solved that after being put on the right track by CATransplant, thank's again.
I learned that fiends son had started his education to become a car painter and I could not resist the temptation go get a fresh finish on the hood. He took it to school as an excercise item for free. He painted it white for me and I conclude he's a good pupil as it looks just like any pro paintjob. So now it looks nice too, just need to put some decals on.
Landed my first Pike using it, small one, let it go again. I still keep my old 18 hp as a backup though, no money in selling it anyway.
