Mako 261B (bracketed) Twin Counter rotating 200 John/Evinrude Ocean Pro's.

Without changing the props(raker ss) I'm getting about 5200 RPM @ wide open throttle with the motors trimmed level to the transom. I can change or increase the RPM as they are trimmed further up but the bow rises accordingly. When referring to raising the motor is that on the bracket slots or just trimming the motors up enough to reach the magic 5800 RPM? My bracket has as slight decline downward (not 90 degree to transom).

Re: Engine RPM

Raising the engine refers to raising its mounting position on the transom. If you look at the mounting holes, you'll see that the upper bolts are very likely in the second hole from the top. The bottom holes are slotted. The starting point is to have the antiventilation plate on the engine (just above the prop) even or slightly above the bottom of the boat. Adjust up or down from there depending on how the engine performs. Too high the prop ventilates and it may ventilate easily in turns. Too low causes drag. Too high can also create water pressure problems so keep an eye on that.
