Engine serial number

The previous owner swapped the engine out of my boat but reused the old cover so I'm not sure of the specs. The number stamped on the block is 1m02264zb. Can anyone decipher this?

My guess is its a Merc reman and only Merc will have the numbers. I would use the cover S/N unless it's the wrong engine type/size

Hi there, that number doesn't appear to be a Mercruiser serial number. If the new engine was bought from Mercruiser, Have a look just above the engine starter for a metal plate similar to this one to see if there is a serial number,

I'll have to check the rear locations tomorrow. The number I have was on a flat spot right by the right side of the water pump.
