Engine stalls at high RPM's

I have a 1994 Yamaha 130 HP motor that I cannot get to run right at high speed. The engine runs fine to about 2500 rpms, and then when I open the throttle, it runs OK for a couple seconds, then dies. I can always get it restarted, but have not been able to get it to run correctly.

The repairs done so far are; new plugs, new filters (fuel and gas/water), new gas line from bulb to motor, rebuilt carbs, rebuilt fuel pumps, new lower unit oil.

I have no idea why it does not run, but it runs well when someone squeezes the primer bulb. I have old gas that has been treated, but am considering draining the fuel and replacing it, although I do not think that is the problem.

Anyone know what I might try next?

Thanks!

my 115 is doing the same thing,it is really pissing me off.I've done all the same things you have done.I think it is a venting problem from fuel tank or something is in the fuel tank that is getting sucked up on the intake tube or something.I'am taking mine to the shop friday.

sounds like motor is probably running out of fuel. has your area recently switched to e10 fuel? is your primer bulb collapsing? if so look at the anti-siphon valve which connects the fuel line to the pick-up on an inboard tank. e10 cleans a lot of crap out of tanks and reaks havoc with the check ball.

I don't know about the fuel. I tried an aux tank, and had similar results. The boat runs well for about 30 seconds, then it stalls if you keep the throttle open. If you pull back, it will continue to run. I thought using another tank would solve the problem if it were a fuel line, but it did not.

Taking it back in today.
