I have a 1987 Force outboard 50hp with the 6 gallon gas tank I believe. I just pick up the boat. When I bought it I heard it run fine. Now 5 days later I put the boat in the water and try to start it up. The motor runs for about 40 seconds shakes and shuts off. I tried to start it several times and it runs for a varied legnths of time up to 35ish seconds then shuts off. I pulled the boat out of the water and took it home cleaned the carburetor put the engine in water tried to run it and i had the same result. Any body have any ideas or suggestions. Also I was told the engine ran fine last year. I have noticed there is some white smoke that came out of the engine, but not a lot. Any Ideas?
