Engine timing 55 Evinrude fleetwin 7.5

Hey all.im wondering what the timing procedure on my 55 fleetwin,don't have a manual for it ,any input would be great.Jim

When you set the breaker points at 0.020" the spark timing will be correct.-----There are no other adjustments except for throttle plate opening at the correct time.

Ok ,and how do you do the adjustment on the throttle plate?what's the procedure?

the cam follower or roller should just line up on the mark on the Cam with the throttle handle on START .
if not loosen the 2 bolt hold the cam under the FW and adjust accordindly.

Thanks for the information,my flywheel doesn't have any marks on the sides ,like in the video, only thing it says is top on the top of the flywheel?

Your flywheel does have timing marks !!----Look for them.----Throttle at idle.-----Put piston to the top.-----Look for a mark / notch near those 2 vertical marks on magneto plate.

No not yet,I'm going to look at it later this afternoon, hopefully I'll find them ,and get it straightened out

Only marks I see is the ones where the slot is for the rope nothing else anywhere,one mark on opposing sides

Turn flywheel over and look for 2 notches on bottom edge.----They will be 180 degrees apart.----I have never seen one of these flywheels that did not have the 2 marks !!

one notch or a set of notches will be in line with the FW KEY slot


if you do not have any... make some 180 degrees aprat on the rim
