Engine wont shift after reinstalling alpha one drive

i was reinstalling my alpha one outdrive , i make sure its in forward and align the bottom and top pieces that slide together when i get it all bolted up its stuck in forward will not shift in neutral or reverse , i have taken it off 6 times i need help before i go crazy!!!!!!!!!!

didi you have the upper & lower seperated? If so, make sure the shift shaft (that goes down into the lower) is centered in its swing. If you put it on the shaft centered when the lower was in gear it won't move any further in that direction.

Or you may have bumped the slide and caused it to miss the shift shaft roller.
Pull it back off and have a look.

the shift shaft roller looks like its in that cutout on that slide everytime i pull it back i did have the drive in two, when i reassembled it when the gold shift tab thing points from front to back the prop is in forward is this correct

Sounds right....
Put it in fwd & see if the 'thingy' (intermediate shift shaft), is facing foreward....
Put it in reverse, it should be pointing to port......​
