Hi guys,

i work on a 9.9 white Johnson SeaHorse and i need to know the year. The problem is that it's a !"$?%%? bastard Frankenstein engine on wich they but an Evinrude clamp bracket so i don't have access to a reliable model number.

The only number i have is the serial on the freeze plug, wich is C0029450. Is there anyway you could help me find the year?

Thanks.

I have a partial list of U.S. serial numbers. Trouble is, that is a Canadian serial. Suggest you go to http://www.old-omc.de/ and match up the paint/decals.

By the controls (twist handle style, choke knob etc.), I know it's a 1974-1986 model according to http://www.sschapterpsa.com/ramblings/Johnson 9.9_15.htm but i'd like to be a bit more precise cause i need to order parts (or maybe they are the same for theses years?) like carb kit, impeller and fuel pump diaphragm.

OK, we progress ;) I've narrowed it down to a 1974-1979 as it have an all metal carburetor and fuel bowl...

I believe 1978 was the first year of the full cdi ignition...no points.

Maybe you'll be able to tell with some pics (note that I removes the rewind starter: spring broke!).

77. (check thi site: http://www.sschapterpsa.com/ramblings/Johnson 9.9_15.htm this guy know his stuff!)

Mine have the scalloped cut outs and CD ignition, so it's at least a 77 and, at most, a 78 as it feature the old style rewind spring (one piece) cause the newer from 1979 have a retainer spring.

So, knowing it's a 1977-1978 is enough accurate for me to order parts.

Thanks a lot guys!
