Chris1956 thanks a lot that advice helps me I'm not going to do waste money until I can spin the engine and do a compression test that will give me an idea what to do next.

Shops do not want to listen to the howling such as ''''I only paid $500 for the motor and you are charging me $1000 for a tune-up " type customers.----They have plenty of folks happy to pay $500 for service work on $50,000 boats and motors.-----Every one of those will be a " thank you very much " type customer.

racerone I got the motor for free I'm taking this motor to a shop I'm mechanically inclined and very capable of getting the job done and if I had a $50,000 boat and I didn't want to to the job myself and I had the $500 sure why not but $500 or not I'm always thankful and grateful for services or help and advice that I might get.. I already know that owning a boat can be expensive.
