have 89 bayliner force l drive hard to start but it will start but backfires/sneeze through exhaust checked plugs wires all seem to be good any ideas?

See carb. sync.sticky, top of forum FAQ's. Sneezing could damage fuel pump diaphram. Reeds could be damaged.

Do a compression/spark test.
That check OK.
Top post in Force Forum.There is a post by FrankA called a linc and sinc do that next.
Clean carbs.Set air screws at 1 turn out.
Now what motor??
5 hp or 150??
Serial#s etc?
