Took them long enough. 20 for Lay, 8 for Skilling.

Re: Enron Execs Guilty!

Creative accounting practices were their means of deception so maybe some creative sentenceing should be used.

My suggestion: The two men should be assigned to the same cell with no privilages. They should be given reams of notebook paper and simple pencils.

They should write letters to each former Enron employee that was "locked out" of trading Enron stock while these two dumped theirs like Roseanne Barr on an Ex-Lax overdose. Their letters should admit full guilt. Minimum of three paragraphs.

When they have finished this task then their time towards release would start. I think these men should receive at least 14 years with no parole.

They should be used as instuctors in prison teaching other inmates how to reconcile checking accounts and how to PROPERLY manage money. They both have the training a background to do this, they just did not practice what they knew to be the right thing.

months

If the pattern set with Stewart is any indication. I think more important is how much restitution? Personally I think it should be a minimum of 90% of their highest approximated or actual net worth. I know they could hide it in their spouse's names, but the government is capable of ferreting out this info and can force surrender of transferred assets. They amassed a fortune on the lies and deceit of others, so they should have to pay those others for the damage they have done. Only when crime does not pay, will these white-collar sleazeballs take notice.

Stewart - a few months in a country club jail in exchange for not losing millions, I'd take that.

Take all their money. They gained it by illicit means. I like the letter writing idea. I am not sure there is enough time considering they caused the suicide of several employee's, ruined the retirement of thousands, and did so with such arrogance. Profiting on the demise of the employees is just sick.

Stewart only saved about 35K by her actions. Again, her arrogance cost her.

To quote Leno from tonights monologue."With a name like Lay going to prison ,he'll probably get back what he dished out." Or something to that effect.

After the verdict,Lay still sticks by his guns and says he feels he has done no wrong. What a guy.

White collar crimes are not crimes. This is a country of the privileged. if you have enough money, in most cases you can out spend the prosecution to the point where a deal will be made. Considers the term probation or a year in Camp Federal. But when death is involved, I'll retract my statement and update my brain under the file, Remains to be seen.

I expect they'll get a Presidential pardon at the end of Bush's term.

I guess I have not followed it all that close but I would assume Lay will die in prison and Skil will get 20 plus "years" or more.

This case will get tied up in the appeals court for quite a bit.
Anyone remembers Michael Milken?
He was sentenced to 10 years in prison, that sentence was reduced to 2 years plus 3 years probation in 1991.
Lay and Skilling will probably spend the same amount of time in prison as he did.
