Rough start to the day. I have seen a few going backwards but never forward. Saw a vid once with I believe the sheriffs dept with the guy in the boat going for a ride down the ramp when it broke free from the truck.

Years ago on a cold October day my wife and I took a ride to the lake. We saw what looked like divers at the ramp. We drove over to investigate. Turned out a truck and trailer went completely under at the ramp. All you could see was the antenna sticking out. Was an older man there that was in the passenger seat and luckily got out through the window, he was completely soaked. The driver wasn’t in the truck when it went in. Wrecker pulled it out, was a fairly new Dodge truck. Ruined. Felt really bad for those guys.

Buddy showed ma a pic of something at the boat ramp, It looked like a floating chunk of sheet metal. I asked what that was, he said his van, three on the tree shift, popped out of gear and rolled into the drink. Boat trailer attached. Boat was at the dock. Two days later he showed up to work with the van!

Almost bought a 74 Ford f100 the other day. My first truck was a 66 Chevy with one.

I used to launch a boat with a 69 Bronco I owned at the time. I kept the rear brakes serviced and adjusted because I wanted that parking brake to work. I do it sometimes but relying on engine compression alone is not a good idea. Even less so when it’s more than just the weight of the vehicle being held.

I really liked the 3 on the tree. I was horrified when I found out the guy I sold the Bronco to installed a floor shifter.

I learned how to drive with the tree. Never had an issue.

Had a few with the three on the tree. My 68 panel had it till I put a SBC in it. Kept the Saginaw three speed in it for a while converted to floor shift. It held up OK till I blew the carrier bearing and half my drive shaft launched, not the trans fault, but the decision was then made to go automatic, power glide.

A friend's dad had one in a 1980 Chevrolet P/U. I was a little surprised they were still being used then. Prob bought up north somewhere, no AC either.

I looked at a pre-'73 Chevy that had one, sort of a project, but Dad was against it, so... I eventually wound up with a Monza with a 4-speed, strictly to learn how to drive that. Neat little car, really. All many years ago...

That old Chevy I looked at (prob a '72) had no power steering either, now that I think about it. Kinda wanted to have a go at that too, but never did. Maybe didn't miss anything there, lol.
