Hi there: I have a 2007 Wellcraft 180 sportsman with a 115 Yamaha 4 cycle outboard. I never had a problem with it until yesterday. After making a couple of stops in the bay, I restarted the engine with no problems. Then as I accelerate, the tachometer needle jumps around then goes above 7000rpm. I thought the tach needle was loose. At that point all electrics go out including radio and fishfinder. I would imagine the engine shut off to protect itself. However the engine was not reving high as my throttle was only minimal and the exhaust noise was low. This happened two times, then I was able to go home. Please advise what this problem can be.
