ethanol and new materials

Just rebuilt my carb and will replace fuel lines, vents, etc. and wanted to hear opinions on whether "normal" gasoline with ethanol whould no longer be an issue due to replacement of gas-contacted materials with "new" materials. I understand there are other "issues" with moisture uptake and the like but I've heard so many problems being blamed on ethanol/rubber interactions - what do you think?

why bother trying your luck with alcohol ladened fuels?

E10 shouldn't be a problem. Even my '88 could handle it from the factory.

New materials? "Normal" fuel lines have been alcohol resistant since the early 1980's.

The reason you see so many fuel line problems that that no one bothers to change them until they fail. The life expectancy of the fuel line is only 6-7 years.

The manual for my boat's drive (Solec - OMC Stringer Drive) states that alcohol tolerant parts were introduced around 1980 (the year of my boat!). I have yet to run into a problem that I can attribute to e10 fuel in the existing parts of my motor & fuel delivery & when I've replaced the parts, they didn't appear to be degraded by anything other than age. Even the issue with water in the fuel hasn't really introduced itself to me yet. I did add a water separator to be proactive, but every time I've taken a sample of the gas it's been 100% fuel & zero water. Boat only hits the water a couple times a month during the summer.

Ben, beautiful boat. I love the lines and sounds of Century lake boats. You should see the Resorters, Coronados and Utilitys around here. Centurys and Donzi Classics make me drool.
