...the two best days of a boaters life are the day he buys it and the day he sells it? That's BS. I just sold my boat to upgrade to a larger one and the whole thing was really sad. I hated to see her go. Obviously whoever said this wasn't much of a boater.

Well, I'm not much of a boater then. I couldn't wait to get rid of my last boat to make room for the new.

Then again, I'm not one to sit in the boat and make engine noise while parked in the driveway either. :D:D

I had the exact opposite feeling Knot, I sold my previous boat to a nice young man with two kids 4 or 5 yrs old, the kids were all over the boat from the start, I kinda felt guilty, I mean he had no chance LOL I loved seeing my old boat go to a young family

Alright, you guys make some valid points. I mean, it does feel damn good to step into a new boat and equally good to see someone else get enjoyment out of your old one. I guess I took the phrase to mean selling it was good because you were done with everything that comes with being a boat owner. Nice to see some optimism.

Oh, and no, I have never sat in my boat in the garage making engine noises...... or water splashing sounds..... or turning the wheel and honking the horn... I swear, lol

But with a case of beer and a little imagination you can be anywhere! .....except on the lake. You need a truck for that, lol.

[gasp] Smaller boat? Naw, you're lookin at this the wrong way. What you need is a bigger lock... on that camper hitch. That way your wife wont have any reason to steal the truck, lol.

I agree, not much of a boater.

We owned our first brand-spanking-new boat for 14 years. When we sold her we got more than we paid, and she was in better than pristine condition. She trained 2 young boys and was Summer's centerpiece. It was a hard decision, but we needed more room.

23 years later she showed up again....on the front lawn of a house about 50 miles away. Now the asking price was half what we sold her for. Still excellent, but not pristine any more. The hull and upholstery still looked like new, but the 2nd owner had broken the windshield and ripped the convertible top.

3 years later (26 years after we sold her and now a 40 year old boat) - we saw her on a front lawn again. Apparently, the 3rd owner chose not to cover her and kept her outside. The seats were trashed, the hull chalked and the deck was rotten. 37 years garage kept and it only took 3 years to ruin her.

That was a sad day! I contemplated buying her back (only 900 bucks) and restoring her, but as they say you can't go back!
