Anyone ever heard of Scout brand boat? I'm looking at one. Seem real pretty in the pictures. Downside is that the outboard is a Johnson 115 2 stroke. The dealer says, "It's real quite" though? About 400 hours on the boat. They want 11k. Seem kind of high. I like the layout though. The all fiberglass including transom is a big plus for me though. 80% fishing the NW waters, lakes, 20% pleasure.

One question I do have is this. If I take on water at the bow of the boat from a big wave, I assume it gets down into the boat well where the bilge pump is somehow. Would you normally just flip the bilge pump switch on and suck that water out?

Scout builds a great boat...very well built. I would offer $9k and go from there. You can get a bow cover to prevent taking on too much water, but I thought Scout DCs were self-bailing. Look for scuppers at the transom. If not, the bilge pump will handle it. IMHO, they make one of the best true dual purpose boats out there.

scout is a great boat, i would buy one, in normal conditions you will not take much water over the bow, but if you get into bad conditions, have a bow cover made. they snap on and have a pole in the middle, then water just rolls off. yes you would use the bilge pump. the 115 is also a great motor, would be my choice.
