evinrude 115 & 140

I understand that these two engine take the same number pistons, the blocks look the same.. is it possible that a 115 bare block can be used to replace a bad 140 bare block,useing the 140 crank - rods- & will it bolt down on the middle unit?? better yet...Will it work???

the 115 hp. is a 1983 <br />the 140 hp. is a 1978<br /> Will the bare blocks interchange?

Thats a direct swap. No problem. <br /><br />If you want to you can use the 140 exhaust plates on the 115. Dont worry about using the exhaust inserts from the 140. Leave them out. Or just use the 2 flat plates from the 115.<br /><br />Easy swap. Its done all the time going from either to either.
