Also in researching the price for the 5004428 RSVR&PUMP AY,FUEL I came across a site boat.net (http://www.**********/parts/detail/brp/B-5004428.html) which sells the part on sale for $589.94. Do you have any experience with that site?

You might be surprised to know how many pumps may be used inside that unit to a fraction of the OEM price!! Some 'rework', and a few hundreds might be saved!!

How would I have been able to tell if the vst was full of fuel? would fuel have come out of the hole left by the bottom of the pump?

Yes it should have been full. you have a pinched line somewhere. check your spin-on filter is that full? start by taking lines off and see where you have fuel to

Well I'm back at it again. I pressurized the fuel line using the bulb and then I removed the fuel filter and there was no fuel at all in the filter. I pressed the bulb again and no fuel came out of the two tubes which would be inside the filter if it was in place although the bulb remained firm. I checked for fuel in the line coming from the tank and as I removed the hose clamp on the motor side of the line, fuel escaped under pressure. I'm not sure why it is not getting to the filter but it does seem to stop there.

Ok it has to be in the lift pump. the pump that's sits behind the screw on filter. Do a search. BRP parts catalog, then you can bring up you engine, parts break down, wish I could send the link but can't.

Thanks guys. I have ordered the lift pump repair kit $54 and it should be here early next week. I will let you know how I make out.

Well, I installed the kit. A little difficult to ensure that the 2nd spring and cap stayed in place but pretty sure I got it. The old green gasket/diofram seemed to be stretched but was not ripped or torn. I re-installed the lift pump and filled the filter with fuel and primed the bulb. I attempted to start the motor and no luck. It did not fire at all. I removed the lift pump again and checked the assembly and found fuel inside the lift pump. I reassembled the pump and reinstalled the lift pump and tried to start the motor again. No luck. I removed the fuel line at the top of the filter and cranked the starter and no fuel came out of the tube. Fuel lines from the filter onward to the main pump are still empty.

Is the bulb still staying hard no matter what you do? I know you R-n-R a new bulb.

Without re-reading the post's have I asked you to remove the fuel line from the boat and just put it in a gas can?

I just did one of these today, with a clogged screen on the electric pump.

Can you remove the side chaps, and pull the fuel line that goes to the bottom of the vst. the one that feeds the vst is the forward line on the bottom, the one on the aft or the vst is the return line. Is there fuel in this line??.

I just wanted to update this thread with what was wrong with my motor so that others can learn from the experience as well. I took my boat to my local dealer and it turns out that the check value on my lift pump was jammed/stuck. I had installed a lift pump kit but not sure if it was me installing it incorrectly or if the check value is not part of the kit. The green gasket was quite stretched in the pump so that may have had an influence as well.
Anyway, after 2.5 hours of labour charges and no parts, I am back on the water and the motor seems to be running great.
