Evinrude 140 Looper Cowl seals needed

I just bought a 1985 Looper, 140 V4. It's badly in need of repaint. I need to replace the cowl seals too, the cover is very loose and the seals are covered in old paint, looks horrible. I'm repainting the whole outer engine in white Awlgrip, the block is flat black. My problem is finding the discontinued seals, or anything that will work in place of them. It's a simple rubber seal with a groove on one side. The two part numbers I found are no longer available.

Has anyone else found a replacement seal from a different engine that can be trimmed to fit? Maybe there's a generic aftermarket seal that people are using?

Thanks for posting your find. I was looking for some of this a few years ago and had no idea where to get it. I knew nymarine sold colour match paint but I thought that was it.

For future ideas, next time you are looking for a cowling seal, keep in mine the usual only different between the seal on similar manufactured engine is their length. So while they have different part numbers, the actual design can be the exact same. And that means if you are looking for a cowl seal for your engine, you could buy one that is longer and trim it to fit without much effort. Because even a cowling seal that is made for your engine, is still one length that meets usually in the back of the engine...it is not a closed loop type seal. I bought one for a little larger engine for my 40HP engine that was obsolete and it fit after trimming 6 inches off... JMHO!

That's kinda what I was hoping to do, figured someone else had already done it and maybe had a part#. I haven't been to the sand bar in a few weeks to see what all the other engine models looked like as far as their seals. My Merc blew up a month ago and I've been unable to go since. This Evinrude looks promising, just in the middle of repainting it today so I can install it. Compressions all around 140, one bad coil, broken thermostats......all that will be fixed this week, hopefully installed and running by the weekend.
