I dont think it was that as I let it stand for about 1 hour and it still would not start, i think the problem was the old fuel hose!

I don't know if it makes any difference, but the plug crossreference I saw online shows the NGK no. to be a B7HS-10 for the Champion L77 JC4. Also, try a decarbing procedure as outlined in the Top Secret Files at the beginning of the forums. I realize you are in England, so Seafoam might not be available, however BRP, Mercury, Yamaha all make some type of decarbing or "power tune" product. They do work and are worth trying.

Is there a Seafoam made just for Outboards?
The only one I could find in the UK is for cars, or can it be used on both?
Also there are different types (deep creep etc)!
Its very expensive here in England ?25 a pint (16fl oz).
Is it easy to use?

Seafoam wont help you.Do you have the low speed needle.gently screwed in till it bottoms out then 1 and 1/2 turn out?

To directly answer your question concerning Seafoam, yes it's the same stuff, just follow the procedure given in the Top Secret Files. State side it's in the $8 range for a pint....less if you find it on sale.

Hi yes it is turned out 2 turns as it nearly stalls at 1.5 turns, but ticks over nicely at 2 turns.

Quote.
Decarb, take a can of seafoam put 3/4 of it in the gas tank, with only 1 gallon of premixed gas. put the rest in a spray bottle. start the engine, and let it come up to temperature. then remove plugs, and them some real good shot of seafoam into the cylinders, replace plugs, let sit 15 minutes. restart, and spray the rest of the seafoam into the carbs, so the the motor almost stalls, wait and repeat until the seafoam is gone.then take for a wide open spin. then put in new plugs, ad premixed gas to the tank, and take it for a wide open throttle spin. it is going to smoke like a house on fire, during this process.

Does the above procedure apply for my little 15hp Evinrude?
Or is there anything different I need to do?
The only think I won't be able to do from the above is "take it for a wide open throttle spin"
Will a large bucket of water or Muffs be OK?

probably half that amount of seafoam would work well...1/2 gal of premix + 1/2 bottle of seafoam...the rest of the procedure in proportion....unless you have a test wheel and can run the engine in gear at wot in a barrel...just wait until you can run it on your boat in the water at wot....do not run it a wot on muffs as this is no different than running any motor at wot with no load...you'll damage the engine or put a rod through the block, crack the crank, etc.

Could I not just add a little to my main tank each time I go out?
Or would that not be beneficial?

the "shock treatment" with the seafoam loosens the carbon on the piston heads, rings, and exhaust ports then the wot run helps to blow it out to an extent the "maintenance treatment" will not...shock it first then maintenance will help keep the carbon from building up...I've personally measured an almost 20 lb. compression increase on a 1978 9.9 evinrude as well lower idle and smoother throttle response doing the seafoam procedure as outlined in the Top Secret Files...and no, I don't work for seafoam nor had I ever heard of it before joining this forum...
