Are you working on this with an original factory service manual?

No, I was just looking a manuals, there are it seems like 3 different levels manual, something like (owners or parts or service) believe there was one other, and different people put them out any input as whom and which one?
After using CDI troubleshooting I confirmed the power pack was the problem with one bank no spark and intermittent spark. I replaced it and all cylinders now have spark, but now as the starter is turning the engine over its acting like its backfiring. To me the top cylinders are (right side )1 on top and 3 on bottom and 2 on top left and 4 on the bottom. I wired it accordingly to this info and the installation sheet from CDI

Likely two of the wires from the new power pack are wired incorrectly, causing the backfire, so double-check your work. According to my factory service manual, the wires from a factory power pack to the coils are as follows: #3 terminal feeds #2 coil, #5 terminal feeds #4 coil, #10 terminal feeds #1 coil and #11 terminal feeds # 3 coil. Regarding the manuals for your engine: the service manual is the on you need (probably the most expensive of the 3). The exploded parts lists for your engine are online at a number of websites, including the factory site: epc.brp.com. I doubt you need the operator's manual-esp if you get the service manual.

Ok, thanks, I have reconfirmed the wiring is correct. I should be getting my service manual in the next week. So I am guessing my next step would be to see the condition of the key between the crank and the flywheel. If that's good, , , I am not sure as to my next step, maybe the points or (bit over my head yet here) stator? That are under the flywheel?

Good idea to check the flywheel key.

Sheared key!! ok, that explains the back fire! sigh :O( so I am sure I did not put enough tension on the flywheel when I installed it a couple weeks ago. So how do you lock the flywheel down while trying to put I think it said 45 foot pounds on it. I ordered a key should be here Monday.

Your manual will have complete instructions and save you $$$$ and frustration.---Torque is more than 45 FT-LBS about 100 FT-LBS is correct.----You use a flywheel turning tool to hold it.-See your local tool suppliers.
