just bought a evinrude 25hp electric start. not sure what age it is or how to set it up with controls also bought , the code i can see on the label I think is E25 ELCDR
with a serial? No 8(B?) 000223

Hi Nick

That's a 1986 model. You would need the controls, wiring harness from the controls to the motor and the shift/throttle cables for starters..What specifically are you unsure about and what did you get to hook it up? Do you have a steering setup now?

I have the throttle and gear console and cables/linkages.
Not sure how to set up starter electrics.. what is required./how is it connected? . there is a red 'multi pin' plug inside the housing .. is this the battery/starter connector? how is the alternator connected?
can you recommend a suitable owners manual??
It states 100:1 oil/petrol mix. Will this engine take unleaded petrol or is there an additive required? I ask for your patience as there will be more 'learners' questions. regards
