Service manual states:
Position gasket and bearing housing on gearcase.
Apply OMC Adhesive "M" to surface of bearing housing and position impeller plate over bearing housing."
I read this to mean there is no adhesive applied to either side of the gasket, but there is on the top of the bearing housing to seal between it and the impeller plate. (metal to metal fit). Correct?
Seems like there would be adhesive applied to the gasket and not between the metal to metal mating service between the bearing housing and impeller plate. If that surface needed sealing I would think a gasket would be there.
