Woops! Wrong video! LOL! Here's the one I meant to post :) Oh and if you're wondering about the stuffed animals around the area ! LOL! I shot the videos on the counter where I shoot pics of antique dolls that I restore. That is what I do for a living :)

If not getting a kit, might try spraying it out as is with carb cleaner. Stick the little snorkel into the passage at the top and give it a few shots (should see the stuff going into the carb throat.) Watch face, eyes, hands. Take off the bolt at the bottom, and spray that passage out like at the top. There is a little jet in there. Then button it up, clean up the low speed needle, and reassemble on motor. I would use the same gasket, maybe with a little gasket sealer (that black permalube gasket sealer, not silicone sealant). Give it a try.

Probably should not disassemble if you don't have a kit -- don't take off that little cap at the top without a kit because you will need a replacement. If it's still not right, can pull it off when a kit is in hand. If can get it running at a low idle, let it run for a while in the barrel. Keep a hose running in the barrel to keep the water fresh and the barrel filled. Monitor the engine temp, but otherwise let it run a bit -- can clean themselves out if no serious blockages. JMO.

Alter removing the nut at the front of the low speed needle I checked the packing and it Is crushed to the point that one piece of the packing was actually stuck on the end of that nut.......so.... I will be waiting on the kit to come so I can do it up right.

Finished tearing the carb apart today and it was filthy on the inside! That gas had gone real bad while it sat for over a year. I am very optimistic about the rebuild! I also feel very confident doing it and that I can credit you all for along with some YouTube vids I watched on it. Thanks again y'all!

Well..... I discovered something that might have been adding to the problems on this carb! I took the plug out and looked down in there at the high speed jet and it was gummed up so bad you couldn't even see the slot for the screwdriver! It is obvious that the last person to rebuild the carb could not get that out! LOL! I will win this one after I make a screwdriver to get down in there! I see they make a tool for it but I am not spending the money for that. I found a screwdriver that will fit in there just right if I grind the sides a bit ;)

I pulled the needle out to check it.....what do you think about this? It doesn't seem to have any bad wear but what do I know! LOL! If I wanted to replace this and the seat where is the best place to get these kind of parts?

For gosh sakes clean the damned carburetor like the guys say or you will be jerking around forever.Strip it,soak it overnight in carb cleaner, drain and wash in hot soapy water and blow out with compressed air. Then you will have eliminated that possibility and will no longer be guessing.

I have "stripped" it down and soaked it and cleaned it and now I'm waiting on the kit so I can put it back together. Sorry if my questions made you feel the need to scold me. Let's try and make that your first AND last time to do that Ok?

Sounds good, Sorry if I offended you but sometimes it's the only way to get people attention so let's hope it's the first and last time anyone has to and we'll have your little motor running in no time.

geoffwga1 ....... I didn't need any help getting my attention to this project. I joined this group because I recently bought my first boat and it is a fixer upper. I got a lot of really great advice here. I have bought a service manual and all of that combined with some youtube videos on carburetor rebuilds I have the confidence to do the job. I have it ready to go back together and now that I have done the work on it I see that it is certainly not brain surgery! I was just a little apprehensive at first and I really appreciate this group and the help I received. As far as you "offending" me....no, your condescending / scolding tone in your post didn't offend me....it just pissed me off. I appreciate your apology and I understand that all of my questions might be a little overkill to someone that has done this kind of thing a bunch so it's all good.

Well ..th kit cam today and I wrapped it up! She starts first pull with little effort and idles like a dream! I am so thankful to you guys for the help and tips that allowed me to have the confidence to rebuild that little carb! I can't wait to get her on the water to test out the hull and then get on with my restoration! I have a old portable fuel tank that the guy tossed in with the deal that has seen it's better days.I think it needs replaced because it leaks around the fuel line hookup and once during the test start after I put it back together it stalled on me and I had to hand pump the line again to get it going. It lost pressure and I couldn't figure it out until I felt the squeeze bulb and it was soft. Am I right in my thinking here or could that b something else?

hey -- good job on the carb! If it were me, would go to Wally's and pick up an Attwood 3gal plastic tank, or similar, with connectors lines and bulb. If a little grief over the new fitting working smoothly on your motor, use the existing one if it's not leaking (get the same hose size). You don't want to muck up a new carb rebuild with stuff from an old tank. You spend on parts some of what you save on labor, and still come out ahead. (That's the case you make to your wife.)

LOL! Thanx for the advice! No wife to have to explain to so I am golden there :) I bought the new fuel line set up when I got the boat so all I really need to do is get down there and get the new tank.
