Hello all, I have two 6hp evinvurdes, same motor, one is a 1972 and one is a 1975. Both have 85+ lbs compression and even in both motors.

One idled well until I did not use it for a few months and now no low idle, dies everytime. I have timed it, new points, new condensers, cleaned the carb, there is nothing in the idle jets under the welsh plug on top of the carb. Could the fuel pump be the problem, it has power under throttle, just wont idle. Is there a jet I am missing that supplies the idle circuit with fuel. Also, how many packing washer should go into the idle adjustment hole where the idle jet screw(rod), one or two.

The other one will idle but will develop a miss in one cylinder after a couple of hours of trolling. Could it be a condenser, it has new coils.

Drives me nuts.

Please help.

The fuel passage way that goes up the side of the bowl has a wee brass restricter with a tiny hole.---Might be worth checking that.--------Use 2 or even 3 packing washers.-----Fuel pumps are easy to take apart / inspect and install a new diaphragm.-------The diaphragm is about the only part that can fail.
