by the way...in non hydroelectric lower units, is there different gear oil called for between motors???

The 1982 model uses HiVis 80/90w gear lube, available at Wal*Mart, K-Mart, any dealership, etc.

The straight mechanical shift models use the above described lube.

Any electrical shift engine, whether straight electric or Hydro Electric, and also the "Shift Assist" models that existed around 1979 or so would use what is called "Preminum Blend"..... also known as "Type C".
