I'm just a rookie, but I suggest replacing the primer pump and flushing the lines connecting your primer pump. It's a long-shot, but could be a low-cost solution to your problem. You may have a piece of crud in the bulb or in the line leading to the bulb. The flow of gas puts that piece of crud into the primer pump's anti-syphon valve causing a restriction. You remove and blow into the primer pump removing the restriction...but only temporarily. Good luck!

Hey guys,
I have no idea how old the bulb or the lines are and I know what the new E10 gas can do to old rubber, so I've already replaced it with a new OMC assembly. I also checked the connections at the fuel pump (main inlet, outlet, and vacuum line). I know it is OMC's idea to use nylon zip ties for hose clamps, but I switched them to stainless hose clamps. Talk about a way of trying to get by cheaper on service parts! Two of the ties were somewhat loose. The tank is a remote one and I checked the filter in it. No problems there. I will report back after I get another chance to test it. Unfortunately being a teacher means I can only screw off for three months out of the year

I got a chance to try her out this weekend. The new fuel line assembly definitely made a difference. There must have been a restriction somewhere in it. So now when I open it up it still hesitates at that same point but now if I hit the choke and let go of it right away it catches up and will open up all the way. It wouldn't catch up before. So now I'm thinking a carb problem but I've gone through them from head to toe. Is it possible the carbs are just worn out? I did a choke synch but not a throttle synch, so I'll try that next. Any other ideas? Timing really can't be done without a test tank can it?

Forgot one thing....are there any other adjustments (lean/rich) that can be made on these carbs? Doesn't look like it, but I thought I'd check.

I'm going to order carb kits and put them in over the winter. Is there one brand that is the clear choice? The two on this website seem to be the two main choices but I've never dealt with either brand. Any advice would be helpful!

The saga continues!

I've installed the carb kits and purchased a new portable tank. I wanted to rule out any tank issues. I will post again after I put it on the water.
