Just recently found a motor in an old barn I was tearing down and was wondering what year and horsepower it is. Evinrude S/N: 4006E-E07404 I'm assuming that just by looking at the motor its not old enough to be worth much probably just be better to fix it up and keep it.

That's not old when it comes to 2 stroke motors. They are always work the money and are great to keep around.

A few years back the neighbor died and his wife put his old(???) Johnson Seahorse 4 HP in the ditch for the trash guys to pick up....I took it home and messed with it some....only missing a mixture control knob from front, did have a cork carb float(if that tells the age), motor turns over easily....it's still in my basement on the outboard motor rack I built....I'd make a gift of this motor to the right home....I'm in upstate S.C.....otherwise she'll just sit down there in that dark lonely basement until somebody rescues her......
