Evinrude Fuel Injection

When did Evinrude first start using fuel injection? I am looking at a newer boat and would like a Fuel injected motor. I would like to know how old I can go.

The early rude EFI motors have a pretty big black cloud over them

A lot of the problems were fixed buy BRP after the OMC bankruptcy

I dont think OMC-BRP ever made a 2 stroke EFI, the DFI started about 97 but run away like the hounds of hades were after ya.
by 2001 or so they had gotten somewhat more reliable, at least up to par with HPDI and opti-max.
just remember there are several versions of injected motors, not all are as good as another.
I found out here in Venezuela I can buy a brand new carbed yammy 130 with prop,controls and gauge package for just under 7k, and the carbed 200 for my hydrosports will be right at 8K for the same package.
a carbed yammy with half maint will outlast any EFI or DFI motor you wish to run against it.
especially the 115-130-140 V4 motors.
