can anyone help please with info on an evinrude I have just bought. The plate on the engine has this info. Evinrude 2. ser no 2602S B 6469 EVINRUDE MOTORS BRUGES BELGIUM. Is this an air cooled motor, what CC would this be and approx how old is it.

2602 model number indicates a 1976 2hp

That's a water cooled engine. Even air cooled outboards need water to cool the exhaust, by the way. Oil mix is 50:1. Displacemnt is 43CCs.

Thanks for the help . So if this is a water cooled motor how can I tell if the water is circulating properly? Does the motor have a pump in the leg and is there a pee hole like on bigger motors. how much of the motor needs to be in the water for the cooling to work and does the water get pumped round the cylinder jacket to keep the piston cool?

I don't think that engine has a tell tail. If the water pump is operating, you should be getting a mist from the idle exhaust relief holes in the leg. The engine should be run with the enough water to reach the seam above the anti-ventilation plate. The anti-ventilation plate is the fin above the propeller. The pump is right at this seam, inside the leg.
