5500 and the prop I have on it now is 11 3/8x14 the prop I hit bottom with was 13x11 but I didn’t think it fit just right on shaft so I went with this one it came with boat as well
I think the 4 stroke motors should be able to turn 6500 WOT.
your prop is probably too much for this motor and boat setup

Does / has this actually happened ? dont get me wrong :) I get the feeling you have a bit of experience and Im just curious as to wether this is a common issue with this engine when peeps give the prop a decent whack , Sounds outrageous , youd have to think its deliberate way of effecting future sales if the whole donkey is replaced under insurance , because it would be sooooo easy to stop this happening if it ever did .
I hit a 2x8 (house lumber) in the fog. No damage to stainless prop, about three hours later the rest went tits up. SEI replacement. 6 months out of their unconditional warranty....

The wonderful looking chain and tensioner are underneath the block.-----On a sudden stop ( dynamic halt ) of the crankshaft , the 2 camshafts want to keep spinning.----This results major damage / work.----At the price of parts / labor rates today these motors that I have were deemed NOT REPAIRABLE
