Re: evinrude rectifier
I was lucky enough to have the cheaper 3 wire rectifier which was a cheap fix and an easy change.
As for the back surgery, I have been fighting pain here and there for nine years, and I just turned thirty today as a matter of fact. I had been in and out of the chiropractor for the nine years and was always told that it was just stress on my muscles around my lumbar joints. On the 18th of this month something finaly snapped when I lifted a mear 20 pound bag of dog food and couldn't go to work. I then went to the chiro and he couldn't do much about it cuz it was so swollen. I then went to my doc and he ordered x-rays to see if there was anything underlying. If it showed something then they could get the insurance to approve an MRI. The next morning it flared up so bad I had to crawl to the bathroom to pea. I could barely stand to do my business and I crawled back to my room. I then could not get up into bed or lye down on the floor, I was stuck and in so much pain. I finaly conjered up the balls to lunge into bed which moved something that send the worst burning down my leg I never ever want to experience again. We had to call an ambulance to get me to the hospital and they got me an emergency MRI(which in an emergency the insurance will cover). Meanwhile they look over my x-rays from the day before and they said they all looked perfect as could be. I was admitted into the hospital and later tranfered to a different hospital where the the neurosurgion (sp) does his work. The final diagnostic was a herniated disc laying against my spinal cord and pinching off the sciatic nerve to my left leg. This was on the saturday night of the 23rd. My surgion came in and did some bowel and bladder tests and along with my numb left foot decided I needed emergency surgery at 8am sunday morning. I knew it must have been serious. He did a lumbar laminectomy, which consisted of taking out part of the bad disc and I think maybe even a little bone from the spine, but not much. I rolled into my room from recovery at noon that sunday after surgery and I actually walked to the bathroom at 3pm the same day. I was friggin amazed!! I feel better now with a 3 inch incision in my back than I have in 5 years, and I walk pain free. As far as I know I don't have much, if any, nerve damage with my bowel or bladder as they work no different than they have in the past. I do however have tingling and some minor numbness in my left toes and pad of my foot still. I guess nerves will heal themselves if not damaged permanantly, but it could take anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple years for it to go away. I feel blessed that is all that I have as an aftermath side affect. I am truly amazed at what they can do with surgery now and I hope this gives hope to any of you who have showed concern or who may be having to go through this in the future. I still have a couple weeks of not lifting anything more than 10-20lbs and no bending at the waist, but I can deal with that, I get around pretty good. It felt good to get out and tinker with the boat today after being layed up in a hospital and at home for over a week. Now I just cant wait to get the clearance from doc to get out on the water and fish. Sorry for the long story to those just looking for boat info, but I am proud to tell my story to those of you who showed interest. I wish all of you the best of luck with your health. I was niave enough to push off getting treated by second oppinions for years and dealing with a crappy quality of life for too long. My word of advice to any of you is that don't be afraid to get other oppinions and explore all options if you think something in your body is not right. Good luck to all, and if you have any questions feel free to PM me, I will answer what I can. Thanks again to all that helped with my electrical problems, you saved me alot of stress figuring it out. This is a great forum.
