Well I want to start this thread to see how everyone else's old crossflow v4s work.Of any up rating. Whether it be the older 88 spl or 85 hp versions. Or even the 115 and 140 hp. Or any outboard from any company really. Post it up just for fun. 😌 So as some may or may not have read in a few posts I had a few weeks ago, after basically 4 years of owning our new to us 92 90Hp V4 we had the timer base fixed and the boat works better then the day we first bought it. A lot better in fact. We gained 5 to 6 mph at top speed and the whole shot feela like there is a 150 hp on the transom now. Lol... So I was just wondering. If you have an old cross flow. Or even new e-Tec. Post up what dixe boat you have . engine horse power , type and size of prop and yoir top speed with and ar what rpm. Mine is a s follows.

92 Stingray 501 zp
1992 Rude 90HP v4 crossflow
13 1/4 x 17 p. Prop
44mph to 45 mph @ 5650 to 5700 ish rpm.

Holy !! 67mph from a 140hp. I assume that has some extra work done to it ? Lol... Most 140 I have heard of are on bigger heavier boats and still only seem to get 45 to 50 mph.

Wow... I cant hit 50mph in my Stingray. It weighs 865 lbs. I'm not sure id that is heavy or light or just average. The engine was just finally fixed this year. Sticking timer base for many years. We had no idea. So the shop also tested the compression. 135 psi on 3 cylinders and 128 ish on the 4th. They said that was great numbers. I have no idea. But at 45 mph. It sure feels like my 90 is pushing the boat pretty good. I ran away easily from a brand new Larson with the 3.0 L in it. He said he could only get 40 to 41 out if it. Which to me seems really fast too. How were you able to het your 90 to go near 55mph ?
