Evinrude V4 VRO new tach

Hi,

i own an envinrude 140hp v4 vro and it has got it's stock tach gauge (i think). It is from omc and i would like to replace it. But i don't know what type i should buy or what the wiring colors stand for. The gauge has got 4 wires : black, gray, purple and blue (at least it looks a bit like blue). Anybody who can give me some advice on what type of gauge i should buy and how to wiri it?

A standard OB Tach should work for you. Black is ground, purple is +12VDC, grey is tach sender and I will guess the blue wire is for night lighting. A new tach will likely have only the black, grey and purple connections to Gnd, Snd, Pwr.
