You need to find the Model Number Normally on a plate on the transom bracket along with the serial number.
Sometimes also on a core plug on the engine
Post 1980 the model number follows the system based on the letters INTRODUCES for the year that you have probably seen. Prior to 1980 you mostly have to look them up in lists
