got a simple Q. i had noticed when i was replacing my thermoswitch and cdi box while my motor was running with cowl off i had a tiny drip from one exaust chest cover bolt and another back on the motor by the head coming from the back exaust chest box gasket. there real slow and dont squirt just a run and drip periodically. so i thought i might as well look into fixing it. i want this boat and motor 100% with no issues. so i got on ebay and got OEM quicksilver gaskets new. got them shipped and all under $14 so cheap enough. my Q is. install dry? or use a sealent on them?

+1 on the use of RTV. I always use just a very small amount of RTV. Just don't over do it so that the excess squeezes out and blocks a water passage. Be careful of the bolts when removing them. Sometimes they get pretty corroded and it's easy to snap one off. If you have one that isn't cooperating, tap on it gently with a hammer to try and break it free, or some WD-40 or PB-Blaster, liquid wrench or something else similar. It's a real pain to get a drill down in there on some motors to drill the broken bolt out.
