Is it ok to open the throttle wide open (in gear) from an idle, or will this cause a leanout condition & cause excessive wear on an engine thats useing pre-mix???
Case-in-point>pulling a waterskier up>>>should you slowly open the throttles & let the engines rpm rise while continuing to open the throttle>>>or is it ok to just drop it in gear & then open it up??? :D
Just wondering, THANKS.

Hit It!

I skiied behind a guy who was a little...how shall I say...delicate with the throttle. What a pain!

No harm will result from slamming the throttle forward. Just make sure you're in gear before you do it, eh?

Hammer it. I'll bet the skiier would appreciate being popped up rather than dragged.

Re: Excelerating ???

Thanks guys!!! Thats the way I have always run the engine.
I was just thinking that with all the trouble a lean run can cause, and having a high load with the throttles opened at low rpm, it could cause cylinder scuffing. I don't think the carbs on my '78 Johnson 115hp have excellerater pumps to cover the "hole">> or do they???
